Diagnostic Services
Our clinics are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment which helps us to enable a more rapid, accurate analysis so that treatment for your pet can be started sooner.
In-House Lab – Our in-house laboratory allows us to perform many types of testing that can aid in the diagnosis and treatment of your pet. An important member of our team is our Laboratory and Pharmacy Technician, who is able to perform these diagnostic tests for our veterinarians while your pet is being treated on an outpatient or hospitalized basis.
Ultrasound – An ultrasound examination, also known as ultrasonography, is a non-invasive imaging technique that allows internal body structures to be seen by recording echoes or reflections of ultrasonic waves. Unlike x-rays, which are potentially dangerous, ultrasound waves are considered to be safe. The technique is invaluable for the examination of internal organs and was first used in veterinary medicine for pregnancy diagnosis. However, the technique is also extremely useful in evaluating heart conditions and identifying changes in abdominal organs. Ultrasonography is very useful in the diagnosis of cysts and tumors. Its usefulness for pregnancy diagnosis, evaluation of the internal organs, assessment of heart function, and evaluation of certain eye diseases, make it an invaluable, non-invasive diagnostic tool to help protect to your pet’s well-being.
Digital Radiology – Radiographs, or x-rays, help our veterinarians evaluate skeletal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, reproductive and urinary systems. The image quality of a digital x-ray is much higher than a film x-ray and there is no time lost in processing the image. We are able to view the x-ray almost immediately so we can diagnose your pet so treatment can be started quickly. Digital radiography is environmentally friendly because there are no chemicals to contaminate water systems. Radiation exposure to your pet is minimized because we use far less radiation for digital radiography.
OFA testing – OFA testing helps breeders select healthy, high-quality dogs while helping reduce the risk of genetic diseases being passed on to their offspring. We provide OFA testing for hip and/or elbow dysplasia, kidney, Legg-Calve-Perthes, patellar luxation, sebaceous adenitis, serum bile acid, shoulder osteochondrosis, spine, thyroid, and tracheal hypoplasia database. Dogs that are tested for all diseases recommended by the parent breed club and have their result published can receive CHIC certification.
